Meet Ximo Piera

Writer: Carol MilliganCarol Milligan

Born and bred in Alicanté, our new Head Coach at Oliva Nova is seldom off the padel court. I managed a 15-minute catch-up call with Ximo to be able to introduce him to you.

Ximo spends 5 hours each weekday morning coaching professional padel players at the JMB Padel Academy, Alicante where he is Head Coach, and afternoons coaching at Game4Padel’s partner club at Oliva Nova.

His Academy coaching has seen him work with Sanyo Gutiérrez (No. 3 World Padel Tour), Victor Ruiz (No. 25 WPT), Salva Oria (No. 35 WPT), Marina Lobo (No. 20 Women’s WPT), and with some of the emerging talents of the UK national team – Christian Medina Murphy, Sam Jones, Louie Harris, Nikhil Mohindra and Tia Norton (UK Women’s No. 1 and G4P ambassador who is training with Ximo this week).

From a tennis background, Ximo trained as a padel coach more than 10 years ago, and I asked him what changes he has seen in the game over that period. The biggest change, he says, is that padel used to be a family and a social game. Now, at the top end, it is a serious athletic pursuit – requiring high-level physical and mental fitness and training.

We are delighted that Ximo has joined the Game4Padel Team and can share his deep knowledge and expertise with us.

Train with Ximo on his home turf – book a padel break at Oliva Nova HERE.
